artist in residency

OPEN CALL  –    next deadline: august 1th 2019

international artist-in-residency 2019, 2020
It is now possible to apply for a residency at Sigrids Stue. The residency can be between 3 – 6 month divided into several stays beginning with a short research visit.

We are looking for danish and foreign artists who would like to go into a long term collaboration with Sigrids Stue. We would like to invite 3-4 artists for a short research visit in order to be acquainted with the neighborhood, the context, Sigrids Stue and to discuss and plan possible future projects and collaborations.

Sigrids Stue offers accommodation and travel support for the research visits.  For selected artists/researchers coming for the long term residency we offer accommodation, support for travel and an artist fee.

Next application deadline: august 1th 2019
About Sigrids Stue
Sigrids Stue has been active in neighbourhood Gellerupparken and the near by district Toveshøj for several years working with a collaborative and dialogued based art practice. We initiate and develop projects in the local public and urban space and collaborate with both local, national and international partners: artists, researchers, curators, local organizations  and residents from the neighbourhood. Sigrids Stue also runs a drawing school for children in the area.

During the residence periode we always invite our visiting artists to participate in professional art network-meetings that Sigrids Stue organize in collaboration with other art spaces in Aarhus.

As an contemporary, active and social engaged art platform we critically examine how to create opportunities for joint actions, productions and influences in the physical and social changes the Gellerupparken and Toveshøj undergo during these years – due to a major revitalization plan for the area.

Sigrids Stue is located in a 3d floor apartment which is the home and work space for our artists in residence. We are also located in Sigrids Udestue – a mobile double storey container. Udestuen is the base for The Drawing School, our office, a work space, a meeting place and for other activities. Sigrids Stue also cultivates an allotment garden. All three places are situated close to each other in the middle of Gellerupparken.
